On November 15, the China International Grain and Oil Expo, themed "Building Food Security with New Quality, Winning the Future with Smart Chains," and the 20th China International Grain and Oil Products & Equipment Technology Exhibition and Trade Fair opened in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. Attending the opening ceremony and delivering speeches were Luan Richeng, President of the China National Grain Industry Association; Huang Wei, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration; and Gao Shiwen, Deputy Secretary of the Nanchang Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Nanchang. Also present were leaders including Ren Zhi, Vice President and Secretary-General of the China National Grain Industry Association, and the opening ceremony was chaired by Heng Hong, Vice President of the China National Grain Industry Association.

Luan Richeng stated that the Grain and Oil Expo is an important initiative for us to implement the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, and to safeguard national food security. It serves as a vital platform for putting into practice the requirement of developing new-quality productive forces and leading innovation trends. It is also an effective vehicle for supporting the construction of a nationwide unified large market and enhancing the stability of the grain supply chain. Moreover, it acts as a bridge and link to promote high-quality development in the grain industry and foster smart collaboration and consensus-building. The expo focuses on leveraging new-quality productive forces to drive high-quality industry development, on establishing professional exhibition and sales platforms to facilitate efficient matching, and on tapping into specialty products to meet the growing needs of the public for a better life.

Huang Wei stated that ensuring food security and maintaining market stability are of paramount importance to national security and the building of a strong country. The National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration will, based on China’s actual situation in food work, thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee. It will adhere to the principle of seeking progress while maintaining stability, using progress to promote stability, and establishing new foundations before dismantling old ones. It will also uphold the virtuous interaction between high-quality development and high-level security, focusing on stabilizing markets, strengthening reserves, tightening regulation, boosting momentum, ensuring safety, and pooling collective efforts. This will help elevate food and strategic reserve work to higher quality, higher standards, and greater levels, and accelerate the establishment of a national food security and strategic emergency material reserve guarantee system that is at a higher level, of higher quality, more efficient, and more sustainable.

It is reported that the 20th Grain and Oil Products Expo covers an area of 40,000 square meters and features two major sections—grain and oil products and grain-processing equipment—as well as six specialized exhibition zones. Nearly 700 companies are participating in the expo. The event has attracted leading enterprises such as COFCO Group, Yihai Kerry Arawana, Shou Nong Group, Jiangxi Agricultural Development Group, and Shaanxi Grain & Agriculture Group, along with distinctive regional exhibitor groups from various provinces. Well-known regional brands like “Qilu Grain & Oil” and “Jingchu Grain & Oil” will also make their debut. Meanwhile, a large number of grain-processing machinery enterprises—represented by Anhui Jiexun Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd.—which boast internationally advanced technologies, will showcase their latest products and innovations. This Grain and Oil Products Expo includes a wide range of concurrent events, including the 3rd Session, 3rd Meeting of the Rice Branch Council of the China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Corporation (COFCO), themed "Innovating Quality-Driven Productivity to Promote High-Quality Development"; the 5th Session, 6th Meeting of the COFCO Council, focusing on the association’s 2024 development agenda; the 2024 Grain-Processing Equipment Development Forum; and special brand promotion activities.

It is reported that the Vice President and Supervisor of the China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Corporation attended the opening ceremony. Also in attendance were officials from grain and material reserve systems in nearly 30 provinces and cities across the country, officials from provincial grain industry associations, as well as representatives from key domestic and international grain and oil enterprises, grain machinery and equipment manufacturers, and other stakeholders in the grain industry.
