These days, the 2025 National Grain, Oil, and Soybean Industry Expo is being held in Changsha, Hunan Province. A batch of intelligent equipment—capable of sensing and thinking—is making a collective debut.
This year’s expo focuses on the high-quality development of grains and oils, featuring eight major thematic exhibition areas that showcase more than 3,000 of the latest advancements across the entire grain-and-oil industry chain.
In the modern facility agriculture exhibition area, a pair of AR glasses caught the attention of reporters. This is a portable crop health analysis system that deeply integrates AI and IoT technologies, featuring applications such as remote control terminals and field inspection guidance. When farmers put on the AR glasses, they can instantly see at a glance any disease spots on crop leaves or the moisture levels in the soil.
Tang Shang, an exhibitor from Zhejiang: “It allows us to check meteorological data from our fields without leaving home. We can also use remote voice commands to control whether the roll-up films and fans in my greenhouse are operating. In this way, we can achieve intelligent management and control.”
Not only are the “experts” in paddy field management constantly online, but small agricultural machines designed for hilly and mountainous terrain have also become智能化 (intelligent). The smart rice-transplanting machine you see here is equipped with the Beidou system and can cover an area of about 40 mu per day. While achieving unmanned rice transplanting, it also improves seedling survival rates and yields.
Liu Peng, an exhibitor from Hunan: “For operations in hilly areas, our machine is equipped with a more powerful engine, providing stronger climbing ability and smoother performance. The distance between each seedling—both horizontally and vertically—is consistent, ensuring that every seedling receives adequate sunlight.”
In addition to smart equipment, exhibitors from 24 major grain and oil-producing counties across the country also showcased a range of high-quality agricultural products—such as premium specialty wheat and high-quality rice varieties with excellent taste—that they have been focusing on cultivating and promoting during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
